Welcome again to my blog. I 've spent a whole lotta time recently surfing sites of bassmakers and i discovered quite a few remarkable examples of luthiership excellence.
In no way am I affiliated with the bassmakers mentioned above nor do i own basses made by them. I may have played a lot of them though visiting exhibitions like the NAMM show or Musikmesse.

Well ... Vinny Fodera builds some of the most sough after and desired basses on the Planet. The who's who of the Bass playing elite plays one - I sure want one (and my late teacher Dave Carpenter
had one). Some trivia - Along with Ken Smith, Vinny Fodera is credited to be one of the first bass builders to develop a six string Bassguitar.

Also a true innovator Michael Tobias Continued to build Basses after the 1 (or 2) year no competition agreement with Gibson who bought TOBIAS. His Shop is located in Woodstock New York. A great guy who builds great basses (i remember Jerry Watts jr MTD 5 string back at LAMA ... sweet sound and great playability ...)

Well Roger Sadowsky builds in my humble opinion the "perfect" Jazz Bass ... Sleek and elegant with "the tone" to die for ... i definitely want one ... ! It's just too hard to play one here in europe ... Well if i ever gonna visit the big apple Fodera and Sadowsky are the places for me to go ...

LE FAY BASSES
Another German Bassmaker (coincidence ?) with excellent craftsmanship. Reiner and Meik Dobbratz are luthiers in 2nd generation. No wonder that they build some of the most stunning basses out there.
